What is banner material made of?

The banner material is vinyl coated fabric, designed for large format printing. Vinyl or PVC stands for Polyvinyl Chloride, so both therms are correct. According to the type of production processes, the types of vinyl banners are:

– laminated – produced by double-sided hot lamination of polyester or nylon, or even silk fibers with layers of vinyl. Designed for short term applications.
– Cast – produced by pouring molten vinyl paste onto a reinforcing fabric. The paste includes plasticizers, colorants, mold and water repellants and UV protection agents. Highest class banner material, but expensive and rarely used.
Vinyl banner material can be coated or uncoated. For the coated ones, the surface is protected by a special coating, which guarantees a long life of the material. It is recommended for long-term use.
The banner material is produced in a wide range of widths from 1.05 to 5m. It is also available in different weights per square meter, depending on the density and thickness of the reinforcing fabrics.
Banners can be with semi-glossy or matte effect.

Depending on the field of use, there are 3 main types:

• Frontlit – advertising media designed to be illuminated from the front side. This is the most versatile product of this range. Suitable for outdoor and indoor advertising.

• Backlit – advertising media designed to be lit from behind, with some light diffusion effect. It is intended for the production of backlit illuminated advertisements, light boxes for outdoor and indoor conditions.

• Blockout – opaque vinyl that allows double-sided printing.
